Network Structured Cable Technician - Lead

Description:

Responsible for installation of various types of cable plant including twisted pair, coaxial, stranded cable, solid conductor low voltage cable, single and multi mode fiber optical cable. Installation includes placement, termination, grounding and bonding, testing, labeling and documentation. Majority of work will be carried out for the Department of Defense; therefore a minimum of a DoD Secret Clearance is required. This job requires extensive travel throughout the continental United States.

Candidate will design, install, terminate, test, label and document horizontal, backbone & other network cabling (CAT6, CAT 5e, Fiber). Candidate will be capable of installing cable pathway systems (cable trays, conduits, cable racks, j-hooks, d-rings, etc.). Installations will include dressing and routing of cable into telecommunications closets, modular furniture and other work area outlets. All work will be accomplished in accordance with ANSI/EIA/TIA standards, BICSI standards, and national electrical code as well as national and state environmental, health and safety policy. Work may include reviewing potential job prospects and/or conducting site surveys and developing estimates.

Candidate will be required to exert heavy physical effort at times including carrying of loads up and down stairs and ladders. Candidate must be able to lift up to 100Lbs. This job will on occasion require working from heights such as lifts, ladders, scaffolding and rooftops. Working environment may include exposure to noisy or dusty conditions; chemicals & solvents; mechanical, electrical and other hazards typical to a cable plant installation.

Work Experience Requirements:

• Candidate must have 6 or more years of experience in installation of cabling & electronic devices associated with telecommunication and computer networking systems
• Candidate must have experience in planning and installing EMT conduit

Education, Certification, and Other Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• BICSI Level 2,3, or Technician Certification
• Extensive Government Background Check
• Drug Screening
