Electrical Technician III

Description:

 

Maintaining a customer focus and ensure delivery of excellent service. Providing work direction and guidance to others. Estimating work and time schedules. Gathering service related metrics to report to management and/or to the customer. Coordinating material resources.Managing personnel and resources to meet critical deadlines Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, hand drawn sketches, electrical manufacturers maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, equipment and controls. Determines location of panels, pull and junction boxes, conduits and all associated fittings, wire pulling, relays, fixtures, transformers and other electrical devices. Determines installations and repairs including such things as the types, sizes, gauges, and lay out of conduit, wiring, couplings, fittings, relays, controls, and distribution panels, and other electrical devices used in a variety of complete electrical systems and the best methods of installation and repair. Traces hard to locate defects and problems. Operates and installs a variety of complete electrical systems. Interprets and applies the National Electric Code, local codes, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings, and to use trade formulas to calculate common properties, e.g., voltage, voltage drop and current capability in series and parallel circuits, resistance, inductance, capacitance, power factor, current flow, and temperature and length in single and multiple raceways, conduits, gutters, and cable trays. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Candidate will be required to exert heavy physical effort at times including carrying of loads up and down stairs and ladders. Candidate must be able to lift heavy objects. This job will require working from heights such as lifts, ladders, scaffolding and rooftops. Working environment may include exposure to noisy or dusty conditions; chemicals & solvents; mechanical, electrical and other hazards typical to a cable plant installation. The work is generally performed indoors, often in dusty, dirty, or cluttered office areas. The employee is subject to electrical shock and minor cuts, bruises, and contusions from handling cable and equipment and from using power and hand tools.

 

Required Experience and Skills:

Preferred candidate will have experience installing cabling & electronic.  Candidate must have 6 or more years of experience in installation of cabling & electronic devices.  Candidate must have experience in planning and installing EMT conduit.
Candidate will have experience supervising subcontractors and managing work crews to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.  Candidate will also have the ability to generate pre and post site reports and coordinate documents for crew operations.

Additional Requirements:

·          100% Travel

·          Physical ability to work alone installing equipment in remote locations.

·          Proficiency with cabling, cable tray, and conduit installation.
