Network Engineer III

Description:

Serve as Security Shift Lead in a major Federal Security Operations Center. Responsible for Performing ongoing risk assessment to improve network operations. Developing and recommending improvements, strategies and solutions using both procedural, technical and policy based techniques. Provide superior decision-making and leadership capabilities to the team and to the customer. Manage team schedule, level of effort, and deliverables to achieve and maintain a high-performing and customer-oriented team of professionals. Support day-to-day administration of various network systems including: OPNET, Netscout, Infinistream, nGenius, firewalls, IDS, IPS, Solarwinds Orion, HP Openview, Cisco TACACs, RADIUS, Packeteer Packetshaper, etc.

Required Experience and Skills:

At least five years of network systems development, software engineering, and network security engineering is essential for this assignment. Hands-on and demonstrated progressively responsible experience in developing and maintain high-speed, distributed, and mission essential networks. Demonstrated senior-level experience (designing, deploying, and configuring enterprise-level infrastructures) in at least one of the following technologies: OPNET (5+ years), NetScout/nGenius (3+ years), SolarWinds (3+ years), or Trustwave (3+ years). Demonstrated knowledge of information security network principles and practices. Hands-on experience installing, configuring and administering network systems including firewalls, routers/switches, IDS, IPS, SolarWinds Enterprise Operations Console (EOC), HP Openview, Cisco TACACs, RADIUS, Packeteer Packetshaper, 802.1X/NAC, etc. Understanding of advanced security protocols and standards. Experience with network, software and security architectures. Strong communications skills, both written and oral. Organized, responsive and highly thorough problem solver. Customer focused – will do whatever it takes to satisfy a customer requirement. Experience with Federal regulations governing establishment and operations of Trusted Internet Connections (e.g TICAP experience). CCIE level network design.

Preferred Experience and skills:
  • Experience in an operations center for a Federal Trusted Internet Connection Gateway (e.g. TICAP).
  • Experience working in a CND-SP environment as a manager or incident responder
Required Education and/Or Certification:
  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
  • CISSP, CISM, GSE, CEH, or SCNA
  • CCNP, nGenius Certified Expert/Master, OPNET Certified Professional, or SolarWinds Certified Professional
Preffered Education and/or Certification:
  • Advanced certification in networking (e.g CCIE)
