ALEXANDRIA, VA – On April 15, 2016, NES Associates, LLC ( was awarded a contract from a defense agency customer to provide Department of Defense (DoD) Enterprise Network Design and Implementation, Environmental Optimization, and Cloud Computing Initiatives Support.

On this contract, NES will support implementation of the Joint Information Environment (JIE) cloud computing environment to include service-as-a-software (SaaS), infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS). Additionally, NES will develop plans, strategy, processes and documentation to assist the migration of applications to the cloud computing environment, and migrating applications not suitable for cloud deployment to new hosting sites.

NES will develop Cloud requirements and specifications needed to procure IaaS, develop a Cloud Service Provider (CSP) transition plan, and execute a pilot program. The pilot will evaluate the migration of applications and systems to commercial CSPs.

“NES is very excited to support this new contract,” says Tom Wells, NES Director of Software Services and Security. “NES is ready to provide top tier support to this new cloud computing initiative as part of the JIE platform that will update the existing infrastructure.”
